Characters

Character cards are heroes, allies, villains and henchmen from the famous Disney movies. Play your characters by paying their cost and send your characters on quests to collect lore or challenge an opponent's character to try and banish your opponent's characters.

Each character has a strength value and a willpower value. You can find this right in the middle of the card. These values are used during a challenge to determine how much damage the character can deal and receive before being banished.

Some characters also have one or more abilities, often preceded by a story-based name. If the character has to exert to use the ability, you can only do so if the character was already in play when your turn started.

At the bottom of the card you will sometimes also find a flavor text in italics. This does not affect the game.

Items

Item cards can't quest or challenge, but they can't be challenged either and remain in play like characters after you've played them. If the item has an ability that requires you to exert the item, you can (unlike characters ) do this on the same turn as the item came into play.

An item has no strength or willpower, but you can easily identify items by the colored border around the art.

Actions

Action cards have a one-time effect to help you in the game, then they go to the discard pile. An action therefore does not remain in the game and can only be used once.

Like items, actions have no strength or willpower, but also no colored border around the art. This way you can easily tell the different types cards apart.

Songs

A special type of action are songs. You can play these action cards in the same way as normal actions, but you can also choose to have one of your characters sing the song. Exert a character with at least the specified cost and then you can play the song without paying ink. Please note, this may not be character that came into play that turn, because you are not allowed exert those characters yet.

Locations

Location cards are played for their cost and, like characters and items, they remain in play until they are banished. A location is always exerted and can be challenged by characters. A location itself has no strength and therefore does no damage. There is lore on locations that you receive at the start of each of your turns. Some locations give a bonus to characters who are at that location. To move a character to a location you must pay the cost shown on the left of the location. Then you place the card at the location to show that the character is at that location. Characters can also have abilities that say they get a bonus when they are at a location. When a location gets banished while there are one or multiple characters at that location, the characters stay in play.
